Tombel : National Integration Celebrated

A military and civilian march past characterized May 20 celebrations in Tombel under the auspices of the Divisional Officer.
Cameroonians from all walks of life and from different parts of the country resident in Tombel turned out massively at the municipal stadium ceremonial ground on May 20 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Cameroon’s National Day. Celebrated on the theme “Defence and Security Forces at the Service of the People for the Preservation of Social Peace and National Cohesion,” pupils, students, militants of political parties and associations joined the administration and defence and security forces to commemorate the golden jubilee of the unitary state. Through the spectacular military parade and civilian march past, Cameroonians in Tombel demonstrated attachment to republican values and the ideals of preserving peace and promoting national integration and unity via songs and banners.
The National Day celebrations in Tombel was also marked by the award of medals to some Cameroonians for their meritorious services to the nation. Prominent among those whose hard work have been recognized by the State was the Mayor of Tombel, Rose Ngassa who despite being a non-native of the area is on her 3rd mandate as Mayor.
