Youthconnekt Greening Initiative : 46 Young Entrepreneurs Receive Equipment

Some 46 young people in the country have received equipment to set up enterprises nationwide. They are young Cameroonians; winners of the Youthconnekt Greening contest initiated within the framework of the Youthconnekt Cameroon project. The event took place on June 9, 2022 at the esplanade of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education. Presiding at the event was the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, who said the beneficiaries (over 30 per cent women) are youths on whom the nation can count, to jointly tackle the concerns of sustainable development, promoted at the international level and supported by Cameroon's Head of State. 
The material comprised;  jigsaw, multi sander, cordless drill driver, manual compactor, waste plastic materials, concrete iron, welding rods, national oil pot, electric sewing machine, paint gun, wood stapler, earth brick oven, soap mixer, electric pump compactor, improved charcoal stove, steel molds for plastic paving, solar panels, charcoal machine, organic waste grinder, office computers, pressure gauge and  plastic pavers manufacturing machine.
Minister Mounouna Foutsou said the event was an ongoing process, intended to provide a permanent foothold for 46 young Cameroonians who carried out innovative projects in the fields of renewable energy and waste recycling. He noted that in the field of socio-economic integration, 46 new businesses have been created, offering access to some 150 decent jobs. Selected in 2021 after a competitive call for applications, the beneficiaries have undergone training, making them apt for the businesses they will set up.
