Canada : 155th National Day Celebrated In Fanfare

The highly attended ceremony in Yaounde, chaired by the country’s High Commissioner was spiced by fashion and musical presentations.
Relations between Canada and Cameroon are on a good foot. The statement was made on Friday, July 1, 2022, by the Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, H. E. Richard Bale during celebrations marking the 155th Anniversary of the country’s National Day. Flanked by Felix Mbayu, Cameroon’s Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, other members of government and diplomatic corps, Mr Bale hailed relations between the two countries that go beyond diplomacy. In the domain of soccer, the Canadian diplomat expressed the wish to see the Canadian National Football team, the Maple Leafs clash against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon at the second round of the FIFA 2022 World Cup Competition to take place in Qatar come November. The celebration of Canada’s 155th National Day this year, coincides with two landmark events; the 60th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Cameroon (1962 – 2022), and the opening of a visa centre in Yaounde.
In continuation of his welcome speech at his residence in Bastos (Yaounde), the High Commissioner announced the holding of a fashion week in Cameroon, during the month of November 2022. The event that would be entirely sponsored by the Canadian High Commission to Cameroon will bring together fashion designers and models from the ten regions of the country.
