Men’s Volleyball World Championships : Lions Intensifies Preparations

Some 18 players are polishing their skills in Yaounde ahead of two major international competitions.
The national men’s volleyball team is finalising preparations in Yaounde ahead of two major international competitions. These are the World Championship that will take place in Slovenia and the Islamic Games in Turkey. Ahead of the two major events, the volleyball Lions are polishing up their skills at the sports complex of the Advanced School of Public Works in Yaounde. For the past weeks some 18 players are working under the supervision of the head coach Roger Nanga in order to ensure an honourable performance in the competitions.
Training takes place twice daily from 7:00 a.m.to 9:30 a.m. in the morning and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the evenings. At the Public Works School on Friday July 8, 2022, the players were concentrated in their training and receiving instructions from the coach. One player who did not follow instructions was asked to leave. That alone is proof of the level of seriousness and discipline in the team. The first major challenge will be the Islamic Games that will take place from August 9 to 18, 2022. This will be followed by the World Championship in Slovenia which will kick off on September 11, 2022.
Coach Roger Nanga said preparations are going on well. He said for now, 18 players are in camp and that at the end of the training session only 14 will be selected to represent the country in the competitions.
