Yaounde II University : Researchers Brainstorm On Medical Freedom

Discussions in this light which also focused on human dignity ended on July 13, 2022 at the first Scientific Days of the University.
An interuniversity, intergenerational, and interdisciplinary encounter between experienced and young researchers from the Universities of Maroua, Ngaoundere, Bertoua, Ebolowa, Douala, University of Yaounde I and II, Soa ended at the University of Yaounde II campus on July 13, 2022. This was within the first Scientific Days dedicated to the Law No 2022/008 of April 27, 2022 relating to medical research, involving the human subject.
Organised by the Health, Globalisation, Standards, Politics and Market Chair of the University of Yaounde II, the two-day scientific days held on the theme, “Standardising Scientific Innovation, Striking the Balance Between Medical Research Freedom and Human Dignity.” The Head of the Chair, Professor Germain Ntono Tsimi said the Chair is a thematic research platform aimed at promoting a discipline or emerging knowledge as well as a kind of interface between the academic and socio-economic world. Its function, he added, is to encourage the transmission of knowledge and the promotion of research. The Chair covers several fields such as law, political science, management, international relations and communication sciences among others. Professor Germain Ntono Tsimi revealed that there is no doubt the first scientific days is focused on human research relating to law No 2022/008 of April 27, 2022 which lays down the principles and rules applicable to health research, in particular clinical trials and intervention studies. The aim of the law is to protect the persons involved in health research. The Parliament deliberated and adopted the law before the President of the Republic enacted it on April 27, 2022.
