2022 Commonwealth Games : Four Cameroonian Athletes Eliminated

Tsala, Milanessi, Ngongang and Yegnong have been sent packing meanwhile at press time yesterday, Baba Matia (-52 kg) was battling for a bronze medal in judo.

Yesterday Monday August 1, 2022 was a relatively bad day for Cameroonian athletes taking part in the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games. At the time of this report, four Cameroonian athletes had already been eliminated from the global stage. In Judo, Bernadin Tsala Tsala of the men’s -60 kg was eliminated in the round of 16.  Tsala tried but the judoka from Cyprus, Petros Christodoulides was too strong. The same bad fate held for the swimmer Norah Milanessi in the 100m freestyle. It should be recalled that earlier on Saturday July 30, 2022, Norah could not qualify to the next round of the 50m freestyle. Another athlete that was eliminated yesterday is Guy Michel Ngongang of weightlifting (men’s 81kg). He had about three failed trails and thus could not clinch any of the prestigious medals.
On Sunday July 31, 2022, boxer Maxime Yegnong (+92kg) could not make it to quarterfinals. He was eliminated by Sagar Ahalwat from India (0-5). Yegnong is the first boxer to be eliminated so far.  At the time of this report yesterday, Baba Matia of Judo was battling for a bronze medal against the south African, Charne Griesel in the women’s -52kg.
