Minister Paul Tasong presided at the gate together that brought together the 17 paramount rulers, the elite, internally displaced persons of the locality on August 13, 2022.
A multitude of sons and daughters of Lebialem extraction have met at the behest of their brother, Minister Delegate to the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Paul Tasong, under the theme, “Where are we? Where do we want to be?” The venue was Buea, capital of the South West Region, last 13 August, 2022, and the biting theme was discussed within the frame of a socioeconomic conference convened for all available Lebialem folks.
A firm resolve was echoed in the conference stance to clean Menji and give it a facelift so that displaced people can return to their base for a resumption of life in their Divisional headquarters. They called for total school resumption in Lebialem as well as all other socio-economic activities. The Member of Parliament from Lebialem, Dr. Bernard Forju, offered CFA two million for the cleaning of Menji. An offer supported by Senator Fon Lekunze of Bamumbu with CFA one million to enable communities to join hands in cleaning the Divisional headquarters. The conference called on displaced persons from Lebialem to now go back home and register their children in schools. It was equally resolved that a data base should be put up to enable the revival of traditional palaces. The traditional rulers of the area jointly cast a curse on any one stirring violence, killings and kidnaps in the area saying the gods of the land would spell trouble on any fomenters of mayhem in Lebialem.
