North West : Homage to Woman Of Honour

The Christian community of the Archdiocese of Bamenda on August 23rd, 2022 buried 96 year - old, woman of faith and mother of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Nji Paul Atanga. She was buried in Bamenda after a funeral mass with His Grace, Andrew Nkea as the Chief celebrant. Drawing inspiration from the Gospel and Bible readings, His Lordship Bishop Michael Bibi's homily celebrated the woman whose life was summed up in graces, generosity and empathy. The Minister of the church said Mama Marcelline Neza Atanga's life communicated integrity and humility as a God fearing woman. The homily indicated that she lived a life of holiness and the riches and values of her life were expressed in works of charity. Witnesses of faith showcased by Mama Marcelline Atanga report that she was a model in promoting the growth of the church of God and His Lordship, Michael Bibi revealed that twice every year, the Bishops of Cameroon were beneficiaries of the generosity of Mama Marceline and her late husband, Joseph Iban Atanga. In their moment of pain, the homily inspired the Atanga family to be united, forgive and showcase love of one another for peace to reign and rediate. Christians were reminded of hope and assurance for all who die in christ. They were told to be positive about death because it draws Christians towards God. 
It emerged from the funeral event that Mama Marcelline Neza and her husband, Joseph Atanga were a model couple and take credit for erecting the first ever touristic facility (Bamenda Highlands hotel) in the North West Region. They are equally credited with philanthropic endeavors and Mama Marcelline was the first citizen of Bamenda to cast her vote on 11th February, 1961 in favour of Reunification.
