CHAN 2023 Qualifiers: Intermediate Lions Face Equatorial Guinea

The Intermediate Lions of Cameroon will clash against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday August 28, 2022 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea in the first leg of the second round qualifiers for the 2023 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN). The Cameroonian delegation left the country on Wednesday August 24, 2022 via the Douala International Airport. They are residing at the Sofitel Hotel in Malabo. Yesterday August 25, 2022, the Lions had a walk in for fitness and a training session at 6:00 p.m.

Coach Alioum Saidou is in Equatorial Guinea with 23 players out of the 25 selected for the campaign. After the friendly match against Chad in Yaounde, two players; Sidoine Foning of Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda and Hekoube Winslow of APEJES of Mfou were dropped. Prior to their departure for Equatorial Guinea, the Intermediate Lions beat the Intermediate team of Chad 2-1 in a warm up game that took place at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium on Tuesday August 23, 2022. That was the first victory for the newly appointed coach, Alioum Saidou. The match was aimed at sharpening the skills of the Lions before the Equatorial Guinea clash. The warm up game was played behind closed doors.
