Men’s Volleyball World Championship : Cameroon Bundled Out

After three outings and three defeats the national men’s volleyball team is heading back home even before the end of the competition.

The Men’s National Volleyball team has been booted out of the ongoing 20th edition of the FIVB Senior Men’s Volleyball World Cup. After three outings and three defeats it is but normal for the Volleyball Lions of Cameroon to quite the stage. During the their outing against defending champions, France, on Tuesday, August 29, 2022 in Ljubjana, the Lions were beaten 3-0 sets (19-25, 19-25, 22-25). The defeat meant Cameroon has been eliminated from the competition since they occupy the last spot in group D with zero point. Their outing even before the end of the competition squashes the Lions ambitions to go beyond the group stage at the World Cup as was the case in 2010. It should be noted that during their first outing, Cameroon lost to host Slovenia 0-3 sets (19-25, 23-25, 21-25) and in their second game, they were beaten by Germany 3-0 sets (28-30, 14-25, 19-25).
Though Cameroon did not win a set in the group stage of the competition, the gaps in the different sets are sure proofs that the Lions have good standards. Cameroon was drawn in a tough group with renowned teams like France, Slovenia and Germany in group D. That alone was a warning signal for the Lions who are yet to attain the level of those countries.
