Brain Games : Winners Receive Prizes

Prize winners of the 2022 Douala Brain Games tournament have received token trophies during an award ceremony at the conference room of the Douala City Council in Bonanjo on September 13, 2022. The first edition of the tournament called “Douala Brain Games” held at the Salle des fetes in Akwa from September 9-13, 2022. The objective was to give inhabitants of Littoral a stress-free moment, especially those interested in brain games an opportunity to test their skills. To DCC it was also an important start to a much bigger tournament that will be held at the quarter and regional levels as well as invite the participation of neighbouring towns and countries.
Grand master Wando Ben received the first place trophy and an envelope worth an undisclosed sum of money from the Douala City Council for winning the chess tournament with 10 rated wins and two draws against random challengers. He scored 11 out of 12 points in 9 games.
Speaking to Cameroon Tribune, Wando Ben shared his appreciation of the DCC for organising the tournament: “I took part in the chess discipline, particularly the amateur branch. It was a tough tournament for me but at the end, I made it at the first position. The organisation of the tournament is a very good initiative and an opportunity for us to test our levels.”
