Electoral Process : ELECAM Solicits Special Contribution Of Media

Elections Cameroon officials and representatives of some media organs had an experience-sharing and stakeholders engagement session on October 7, 2022.
The media in Cameroon is expected to contribute in an optimal manner to the success of future electoral processes in the country thanks to the experience-sharing and stakeholders engagement in the electoral process session that took place on October 7, 2022 at the Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) head office in Yaounde.
The session was on the theme, “The electoral process in Cameroon from 2011 to 2021 10 years with ELECAM: lessons learned, stakes and perspectives.” The media men and women besides other topics, were drilled by the ELECAM Electoral Board member Haman Dairou on the role of the media in successful electoral process. ELECAM officials and the media men and women also shared the technical and operational difficulties encountered in the previous elections.
The synergy between the media and ELECAM in the successful conduct of the electoral process was stated by the Chairperson of the Electoral Board of ELECAM, Abrams Enow Egbe in his welcome statement. Commenting on the media that has the status of the fourth power, he said, the construction of democracy begins with the press, nourished with the press and consolidated with the press. By this, the press has a great role in preserving peace and social cohesion. The respective media organs are key actors in playing the fundamental role of informing, educating and creating awareness of the masses on the electoral process.
