Merits of Decentralized and Cross-border Diaspora cooperation were on October 12, 2022 explained to Regional Assembly and Mayors.
A visiting delegation of the Decentralized and Cross-border Diaspora Cooperation Parliamentary Network, (REP-COD) on October, 12, 2022 explained the relevance of the outfit in supporting government efforts and enhancing decentralized and cross-border cooperation. The delegation’s team leader; Hon. Emmanuel Banmi told the Regional Assembly and Mayors of the region that working together is incumbent because their political careers are bound together.
Working together to develop Cameroon is crucial according to Hon. Banmi who stressed that Parliamentarians and Regional elected authorities belong to the same local constituencies. A working session during the visit featured the network’s action plan, evaluation of local development efforts and a presentation detailing the need for a data bank of challenges and grassroots development needs.
It was against this backdrop that the President of the North West chapter of the United Cities and Councils of Cameroon, (UCCC), Awoh Ndang Denis told the parliamentary delegation about the frustrations of local councils without revenue collection since 2017, blamed on the ongoing security challenges.
