Humanitarian Assistance : SW Regional Assembly Assists IDPs, Others

The donations were handed recently to Internally Displaced Persons, heads of schools and health facilities in Fako Division affected by the crisis.
The South West Regional Assembly has offered foodstuff to some Internally Displaced Persons, didactic materials to principals of schools and medical supplies to health facilities within Fako Division.
In a joint ceremony to assist IDPs alongside schools and hospitals affected by the socio-political crisis in the North West and South West Regions, 100 IDPs received a bag of rice each, a bag of salt, two packets of sugar and tablets of soap. The 20 schools present were shared cartons of paper, chalk, file jackets, stapling pins, pens, pencils, sanitizers, calculators among others. Equally, two motorcycles with medical supplies worth FCFA 7.1 million were handed to the District Medical Officer for Tiko, Dr. Youmbi Andre for ‘Reach out’ within the Tiko health area. The items were handed to beneficiaries on October 4, 2022, at the premises of the South West Regional Assembly in Buea after a good-will message delivered by Honourable Effoe Limunga Rebecca, Secretary to the South West Regional Executive Council.
Honorable Gobina Mokoko Simon, Commissioner for Economic Development, who oversaw the distribution exercise on behalf of the President of the South West Regional Executive Council explained to the beneficiaries that what they received should also be shared with those in need. ‘‘For the back-to-school assistance things are really difficult for most families and the donations will go a long way to...
