Association of Civil Status Officials : Pioneer National Bureau In Place

They were elected by acclamation during the first general assembly of the association which held in Yaounde on October 27, 2022.

The first-ever national executive bureau of the Association of Civil Status Officers and Secretaries, abbreviated ACOSEC has been voted. This was during the association’s maiden general assembly that held in Yaounde on October 27, 2022 under the theme, “Civil Status Officers and Civil Status Secretaries: Together for the Security of Cameroonian nationality.” Gerald Zambo Zambo was voted National President by acclamation through a list system. He is assisted by four Vice Presidents and other officials that make up the 22-man bureau. There also exist ten regional representatives and ten special technical advisers. Elected for a five-year term renewable, the national bureau has the responsibility of ensuring the apt registration of civil status documents, carry out sensitisation, and work with civil society organisations to foster the civil registration process.
In his appreciation speech, Gerald Zambo Zambo said his priority will be making sure that principal and secondary centres of civil status registry carry out sensitisation, registration and accompany the population in the various villages in the establishment of their civil status documents, whether birth, marriage or death certificates. He also promised to champion solidarity amongst members and strengthen collaboration with government.
