Health : Drone For Service Delivery

It all started when Neil Armstrong Kouontchou observed how his sister-in-law, who works at the Tergel District Hospital in Douala, struggle to transport blood from her hospital to another hospital in the city. Due to bad roads and enormous road traffic, it was a difficult task to get the blood on time for the patient who needed it urgently. This is how Kouontchou decided to manufacture a drone which can be used to transport urgent medications between hospitals in Douala.
“My drones are made from recycled aluminium such as remote controllers,” Kouontchou told Cameroon Tribune. The equipment, entirely coded and developed, is the personal initiative of the 21-year-old. He explains that the drones are powered by lipo battery, which has two principal modes: that is the automatic, and the manual modes. The automatic mode is used during delivery for the drone to autopilot itself with the help of numerous sensors. The manual mode is used by the individual to control the drone for short-distance mission, for testing or emergency situations.
