Douala General Hospital : Promoting Quality Management of Emergencies

This involves the holding of the 3rd Scientific and Research Days over the weekend.


Health professionals met at the Douala General Hospital to enhance training and good medical practice.
The health professionals ranged from the ambulance drivers to the specialist doctors. They met at the premises of the Douala General Hospital within the hospital’s 3rd Scientific and Research Days from November 4-5, 2022, under the theme, “Management of emergencies in the hospital.”
The opening of the event was presided over by the Secretary General of the Littoral Governor’s Office, Aboubakary Haman Tchiouto. He saluted the initiative whose objectives were to enhance the post-graduate training of staff and of Cameroon’s health professionals, share clinical experiences on the diagnosis and management of major conditions, introduce young people to research and enable young researchers to discuss the results of their work with their peers.
Speaking on the importance of the theme, Pr. Henry Namme Luma, Director General of the Douala General Hospital, attributed the success of emergency management in a hospital to a good internal organisation, being anticipatory and most especially working in close collaboration. The choice of the theme motivated by the requirement for optimal care and the need for good collaboration between health facilities for a timely referral of patients.
According to Pr. Bertrand Hugo Mbatchou, President of the Organising Committee, research is one of the key elements for good medical practice, and was also held for the benefit of young researchers.
