Parliament : November Budgetary Session Begins Today

The session will essentially be dedicated to the scrutiny and passing of the 2023 Finance Law that contains the State budget.
Members of the National Assembly and Senators are converging on Yaounde for the November 2022 ordinary session of Parliament which besides other bills and parliamentary business, will be dedicated to the passing of the Finance law for the 2023 financial year that corresponds to the 2023 State budget.
The opening plenary sitting will take place at the National Assembly this Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:00 am. That of the Senate will take place at 4:00 pm. The November ordinary session of parliament for the 2022 legislative year comes with high stakes. It will be holding ahead of the end-of-year Christmas and New Year festivities. The prices of some basic commodities have been recording a rise and it will be the place of parliamentarians to work with government to regulate the prices. It will also be taking place at the moment the war between Ukraine and Russia is raging on with the resulting consequences in the shortage of supply of gas, some foodstuff and other items in the world market with Cameroon also affected. Government will therefore be explaining to the parliamentarians measures to tackle the effects of the war. Government will equally present measures to continue deepening the decentralisation process as well as to accelerate the reconstruction and development of the crises affected North West, South West and Far North Regions.
