Land Tenure : Gov’t Continues Talks For Better Reforms

The Land Tenure week was launched on Monday November 14, 2022 by the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure in Yaounde.
The 2022 edition of the Land Tenure week is ongoing in Yaounde with focus on local actors such as traditional rulers from all the ten regions of the country. Opening the week on Monday November 14, the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure, Henri Eyebe Ayissi said it is an opportunity to carry out an extensive discussion with traditional rulers whose ideas will be effectively exploited to finalise the document on land reforms in the country.
Speaking in the presence of several members of government and the diplomatic corps, Henri Eyebe Ayissi said discussions are taking place under the theme, “Land Governance in Cameroon: Innovations and Perspectives.” The Minister said it is an inclusive and interactive platform to exchange ideas with different stakeholders. According to Eyebe Ayissi, contributions from actors will permit the ministry to finalise the new reforms and governance process of the land tenure system in the country as instructed by the Head of State. He explained that land issues concern everybody and there is need to ensure proper development of the land system in the country, exploit the current methods and adapt it to the new system. “We are in the process to finalise the draft bill on the new land laws in the country. This new law will take into consideration the development of the country and address many problems already faced with the management of lands”, Henri Eyebe Ayissi underscored.
