Enner Valencia : Keeping Ecuador’s Dream Alive

Ecuador talisman, Enner Valencia is a player to watch out for in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He scored the first goal of the World cup, coveting a penalty at the 16th minute to put Ecuador ahead of the hosts, Qatar, during the opening game yesterday Sunday November 20, 2022 at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khol. Valencia did not only score the first goal of the World Cup but he scored two goals for Ecuador during the first half to give Ecuador 2-0 at break. The world was taken aback at his performance in the opening game of the World Cup. 
The ex-West Ham United front man took advantage of a dodgy defending in the box by Qatar to head home into the yawning net. His joy was short-circuited by the dreaded VAR but was on hand to score the tournament's first goal when he coolly slotted home from 12 yards. Valencia who had a goal disallowed in the first three minutes of the game is the oldest player to score a goal in the opening game of a World Cup. Ecuador are 44th in the FIFA Rankings while Qatar FIFA are 50th on the rankings.
