Meme Disarmament Centre : Fai Yengo Evaluates Construction Work Today

The National Coordinator of the National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Committee (DDR) arrived in Maroua on November 22, 2022 ahead of the official inspection visit.
Fai Yengo Francis, the National Coordinator of the National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Committee (DDR) will today, November 23, 2022 assess the situation of ex-Boko Haram fighters in the DDR transit Centre in Meri. From here, he will move to inspect construction work of the multipurpose vocational training centre for the Far North Region at the permanent site in Meme Village in Mora. Here, he is expected to evaluate the state of progress of the construction project, size up difficulties and challenges and give instructions on the completion of the construction project. He is accompanied on the official inspection visit by the Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Cameroon, Abdel Rahmane Diop and was received upon arrival by the Governor, Midjiyawa Bakari.
The DDR National Coordinator presided at the ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the construction project of the Meme Multipurpose Centre on Friday, November 19, 2021. The construction work was programmed to take 12 months, meaning that the current visit could have served as the official reception ceremony. The state of progress of the Meme Multipurpose DDR Centre project is slower than that in other Regions.
