Sports, Physical Education : FCFA 23.644 Billion To Promote Sports Activities

The draft budgetary allocation for the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education was defended in the Committee on Finance and Budget of the National Assembly on December 1, 2022 night.
The Ministry of Sports and Physical Education is soliciting a budgetary allocation of FCFA 23.644 billion in the 2023 financial year to promote the practice of physical education and sports activities for all on the national territory.
The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou defended the bill in Committee in place of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who was unavoidably absent. Broken down, FCFA 800 million is intended to serve for capital expenditure, specifically for internal investment expenditure of which FCFA 150 million will be used for the rehabilitation of the campus of the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS). FCFA 22.844 billion in planned to be used as current expenditure.
The budget will be implemented through three major programmes. They include the: Development of Physical Education, Development of Sports and Governance and Institutional Support in the “Sports and Physical Education “subsector.
