Adoption Of Finance Law : Simple, Hitch-free Process?

Parliament is currently focusing attention on the Finance law for the 2023 financial year that contains the State budget for 2023 the next fiscal year.
After close to one week of intensive work, the Committee on Finance and Budget of the National Assembly, Members of the Lower House of Parliament during a plenary sitting in the House Chamber on Sunday, December 4, 2022 night adopted the Finance law of the Republic of Cameroon for the 2023 financial year.
The Senate will take over the scrutiny and adoption of the said law that has been forwarded by the Speaker of the National Assembly starting from today, December 6, 2022. Senators will today in the House Chamber debate on Bill No.201/B/SEN/2L: Finance Law of the Republic of Cameroon for the 2023 financial year. On Friday, there will be a plenary sitting of the Senate for the adoption of bill on the Finance Law for the 2023 financial year.
Over the years, the scrutiny of the finance law in the Committee on Finance and Budget and adoption in plenary sittings in the two Houses of Parliament which are the National Assembly and the Senate have attracted a lot of attention. Ministers of some key Ministries do spend hours in Committee as they are grilled by the people’s representatives on projects and issues inscribed in the various budgetary heads. Some plenary sittings dedicated to the adoption of the finance law that contains the State budget for the upcoming year have had the record of lasting more than 12 hours. The plenary sittings usually serve as the opportunity for the lawmakers to ask questions concerning projects at the national level and projects in their respective constituencies. Almost every lawmaker would want his or her voice to the heard. The concerned Ministers are bound to provide answers to worries on projects raised, either those programmed but are abandoned or uncompleted or even those programmed but never kicked off.
