This was during the first ordinary session of the institution, presided at by its Chairperson, Peter Mafany Musonge on January 26, 2023.

The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism has adopted its budget for the 2023 financial year which stands at FCFA three billion 180 million. An action plan for the current year was also adopted. This was during the first ordinary session of the Commission held on January 26, 2023, whose deliberations were presided at by its Chairperson, Peter Mafany Musonge.
In his opening statement, the Chairperson of the Bilingualism Commission noted that the budgetary choices of the institution were made following the strategic guidelines and measures to rationalise public expenditure, especially those prescribed in the Presidential circular on the preparation of the State budget for the 2023 financial year. He thus stated that allocated resources will be used for the effective implementation of programmes contained in the 2023 action plan of the Commission, which amongst others things, will be to ensure the operationalisation of their regional offices. Promoting bilingualism and social cohesion as well as combating hate speech in the society are globally the responsibilities of the Commission. The Chairperson said the mission bestowed on them by the President of the Republic, is to ensure that administrative documents are produced in the two official languages by Ministries and other State institutions. To that effect, several field missions were carried out by the Commission in 2022, an activity their action plan indicates they intend to intensify.
