Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport : Worthy Presidential Departure

It was awe-inspiring at the Yaounde Nsimalen Intenational Airport on March 17 and 18, 2023 as various citizens of CEMAC member countries and the Cameroonian military showed up to bid goodbye to their Presidents who were in Cameroon for the 15th ordinary conference of Heads of State of the sub region. The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute was at the airport to see off all the five State leaders. The aisles of the airport were adorned with flowers on a red carpet, presidential guards on each side with their swords in the air as a display of honour, flags of all CEMAC nations flying at full mask as well as the CEMAC flag and encouraging messages of prosperity and togetherness printed on banners. Songs were chanted to the various Presidents as they arrived for departure and airport pushback tractors ensured the red carpet was displayed right to the staircase of the plane. Four Presidents (Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Congo) left on March 17 and the President of the Central African Republic left on March 18, 2023. 
The first Statesman to have left Cameroonian soil after the conference was the President of the Chadian Transitional Military Council, Mahamat Idriss Deby. After a brief exchange with the Prime Minister at the Presidential lodge, the Chadian State leader was accompanied to the foot of the plane. On his way, he shook hands with all Chadian nationals who came to the airport to say goodbye and wish a safe return to their leader. He was accompanied by the Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Laurent Esso, the Cameroonian companion put at his disposal throughout his stay in the country. At the foot of the plane, the Prime Minister handed him a photo album which contained pictures of his activities in Yaounde. 
Next was the Gabonese President, Ali Bongo Ondimba. Present to say goodbye were the Gabonese High Commissioner to Cameroon, Gabonese community and Cameroonian officials. President Ali Bongo Ondimba was also handed a photo album by the Prime Minister. After flipping through some of the pictures, he expressed appreciation to the Head of Government in the words “thank you very much. I am really grateful.”
