U-23 AFCON Qualifiers : Cameroon Petitions CAF

This follows claims that a Gabonese player who took part in the qualifiers faked his age.

Though Gabon has officially picked qualification for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations over Cameroon, they still have an unfinished business on hand as they prepare for the task ahead. In effect, the Gabonese Football Federation in a March 31, 2023 communique revealed that they have officially been seized by the Confederation of African Football following reservations made by Cameroon on the age and eligibility of forward Floriss Djave since the first leg game in Franceville counting for the last round of the U-23 AFCON qualifiers. It is in this light the federation stated that they are serene concerning the accusations on the player and reassured the public that Floriss Djave has passed through all the youth categories and was effectively born on 29/7/2003 making him eligible to be among the U-23s.
In the communique, the federation assured the general public that all necessary evidence will be channelled to the Confederation; while giving the leeway to the opposing party to produce irrefutable proof of fraud on the age of the player.
