Rugby : New Season Kicks Off

The campus of Collège Stoll in Akono was the venue of the launch of the 2023 Rugby season in Cameroon on Saturday April 1, 2023. Organised by the Cameroon Rugby Federation (FECARUGBY), the event brought together athletes from clubs across the country. The mixed rugby VII tournament unfolded in the junior and senior categories. The matches were played simultaneously in two stadiums in the women and men’s categories. It was an opportunity for the public in Akono to discover new techniques in the sport. It was equally an opportunity for the players to get back to the competition after the long break. 
Despite the late start, the players put up remarkable performances. In the senior men’s final, FAP Rugby Club of Douala beat Lion Rugby Club 14-12. In the women’s final Bebga Academy Rugby Club of Yaounde beat Nfon Dreams Academy Rugby Club of Yaounde 21-00. In U20 men’s competition, Titans of Douala Rugby Club beat AS Massoda Rugby Club 36-00. The President of FECARUGBY, Marc Emmanuel Essono, expressed satisfaction with the massive turnout of the different clubs to participate in the opening of the season.
