Sports For Development and Peace : Minister Highlights Importance

As part of activities to mark the celebration of the 10th edition of the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace (JISDP), a sports walk took place in Yaounde yesterday April 5, 2023. Organised by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education in collaboration with UNESCO, the event brought together Cameroonians of all walks of life in Yaounde and elsewhere. As early as 6:30 a.m. over 300 participants thronged the May 20 Boulevard in centre of the city which was the departure point. 
For two hours, the marchers walked through major streets in Yaounde carrying messages on the importance of sports in human life and the society. The sports walk was a crowd-puller as many Yaounde inhabitants joined the carnival on the way before reaching the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex in the Warda neigbhourhood which was the arrival point. Speaking after the walk the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi congratulated the organisers for their efforts in making the event a success. He said the President of the Republic Paul Biya attaches great attention in the practice of sports and physical activities in the country. Reason why the President has put in place magnificent and infrastructure dedicated for the practice of sports activities.
