Sports For All : Athletic Walk Thrills Yaounde

It was an exceptional weekend for sports lovers in the Centre Region. An athletic walk competition called “Marche Etoilée de l’Unité” took place in the city of Yaounde on Saturday May 13, 2023. Organised by the Centre Regional League for Sports for All, the competition brought together participants from all the seven Subdivisions of Mfoundi Division including those of the Mbam and Inoubou and Nyong and So’o Divisions of the Centre Region. The sports walk was in prelude to the 51st edition of the National Unity Day celebrations in Cameroon on May 20, 2023. 
The event began at 7:00 a.m. with a 10km sports walk from the different Subdivisions to the May 20 Boulevard. After the walk, the delegations had stop over at the May 20 Boulevard before beginning another two kilometers walk along some streets in Yaounde and ended at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex in Warda neighburhood. As they marched along, they carried messages on the importance of sports on national unity. The event ended with keep fit exercises at the esplanade of the Warda Sports Complex. Prizes were awarded to delegations that stood out in the competition. The Lekié Division won the trophy for the best Division from their innovation with traditional dances and the best organisation.
