2023 African Sambo Championships : Cameroon Bags Nine Medals

The 2023 African Sambo Championships which began on May 20, 2023 in Casablanca, Morocco ended yesterday May 22, 2023. Team Cameroon that went into the competition with 10 athletes in both combat and sport sambo, ended with a total of nine medals; four in gold, three in silver and two in bronze. This performance permitted Cameroon to finish second on the general medal standings just after hosts Morocco with 20 medals; 10 in gold, four in silver and six in bronze.
All Cameroon’s gold medals were won in Combat Sambo. Cameroon’s Seidou Njimouluh won gold in the -98kg just like William Fokam in the -71kg category. Celestine Mbida equally won gold in the -58 kg and Tsimi Onguene Marie-Victoire finished African champion in the -72kg category. The four gold medals mean that Cameroon is proud of four African Champions.
