Women NBA : Dulcy Fankam Debuts At Seattle Storm

The Cameroonian basketball player was part of the team’s roster in their season opener on May 20, 2023 against Las Vegas Aces.

Cameroon’s Dulcy Fankam is now comfortably seated in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Selected with the Seattle Storm’s second-round pick in April 2023, the 6-4 forward effectively made her debut for the American-side on May 20, 2023. It was in the season opener that saw 2022 WNBA Champions Las Vegas Aces thrash Storm 105-64 at Climate Pledge Arena. Despite the defeat, Fankam brought in energy worth appreciating. According to statistics, she played three minutes, did not score any point but had one Offensive Rebound. What is essentially an almost brand-new Seattle team found itself battling a veteran Las Vegas squad. The Aces shot 54.6 per cent from the field (40 of 73), including an eye-popping 61.1 per cent from 3-point range (11 of 18). They also hit 82.4 per cent from the foul line (14 of 17). Shots did not go down so easily for the Storm, as they hit 32.1 percent from the floor (25 of 78) and just 23.8 per cent from downtown (5 of 21).
