The national women’s rugby XV team lost their second game at the ongoing Rugby Africa Women’s Cup First Division in Madagascar. They were beaten 30-10 by the host country, Madagascar, at the Makis Stadium in Antananarivo on Wednesday May 24, 2023. That was the first-ever meeting between the two sides. Out of three matches the rugby Lionesses have lost two, putting them in a rather difficult position as they have lost all hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.
During their first outing, they Lionesses lost to the Springbok Women of South Africa 87-0. The Lionesses will play their third and last game against Kenya on Sunday May 28, 2023 in Antananarivo. The girls of Coach Alfred Bisso will need to go the extra mile in order to beat Kenya and take back home at least a victory. From all indications, Mimosette Mouto and team mates are working hard to correct the errors of the previous games before going for the last game. Kenya will not be an easy pushover as the East African team saw off Madagascar 29-20 in their first game on Saturday May 20, 2023. For some of the Lionesses it is the first time they are participating in an international competition made up of tough teams.
