France-Cameroon : University Cooperation Under Review

This was during an audience granted to a delegation from the Université de Paris Saclay (UPS) and the private health institute, ISPS, at the Ministry of Higher Education yesterday.

A delegation from I’Université Paris Saclay (UPS) and I’Institut Supérieur des Professions de santé led by Guy Sarkis, Attaché for Scientific and University Cooperation at the French Embassy in Cameroon was received on May 25, 2023 at the Ministry of Higher Education. Discussions during the audience focused on renewing the partnership agreement signed in 2018 between Paris Saclay and the Institut Supérieur des Professions de Santé, which ends this year. On behalf of the Minister of Higher Education, the Director of Higher Education Development, Professor Richard Laurent Omgba lauded the partnership in higher education and research in areas of common interest between France and Cameroon.
At the end of the first phase of the cooperation, both parties during the audience presented a positive assessment of the implementation of the inter-institutional agreement between the Université Paris Saclay (UPS) and the Institut Supérieur des Professions de Santé (ISPS) while establishing the ERASMUS Scholarship Programme signed in 2021. Through the scholarship, ISPS has joined the European Union's ERASMUS Platform, which offers students, teaching and technical support staff an invaluable opportunity for academic and scientific mobility. With scientific and academic mobility, ISPS President Jean Otele Mbede says the institution is pursuing its objective of internationalising the training system in line with the directives of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) Heads of State, with a view to creating and promoting a more efficient and competitive CEMAC higher education, professionalization and scientific research areas.
