Athletics : Competition Rounds Off

The fifth playing day of the National Interclub Athletics Championship took place at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium last weekend.

The 2023 athletics season in Cameroon is slowly but steadily coming to an end. It is in this light that fifth playing day of the National Interclub Athletics Championship took place at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium last weekend. Organised by the Cameroon Athletics Federation, the competition brought together over 300 athletes from clubs across the country. For two days, the athletes displayed rich talents in the track and field. With the absence of some top stars in the championship, like Emmanuel Eseme, Nganhuele Mberlina (100m, 200m) Tendap (400m), among others, the competition was an opportunity for the younger athletes to showcase their talents. 
Even though no records were broken during last weekend’s competition, the athletes put up remarkable performances. Njuh Nsella (FAP) won the 200m race in 24.7 while Inrahima Hamyadji (AIA) won the men’s event in 21.56. Njuh Nsella equally won the women’s 100m event in 12.04. In the women’s 400m Ache Blague (KACY) was the first in 57.75 and in the men’s 400m, Nkembe Abdras (FAP) was the winner in 48.34. In the women’s 5000m Ngong Sylveria (INJS) was the first in 18.29.9. She equally emerged winner in the women’s 10,000m 38.25.2. In the men’s 5, 000m category Yainam André (VINA) was the winner 15.24.7. Tchogah Pierre (FAP) won the men’s 10,000 event in 32.12.1.
