NW Regional Assembly : Freed House Of Chiefs’ President Received

The joy was real and emotions raised to another level when His Royal Highness, Fon Yakum Kevin Shumitang stepped his feet at the entrance of the North West Regional Assembly on June 2, 2023. The visibly anxious population struggled to catch a glimpse of his arrival after 18 months in captivity. It was about midday when the President of the House of Chiefs arrived and was received by the administration led by North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, members of the Executive Bureau of the Assembly, NW Fons, his subjects, friends and persons of goodwill.
Speaking during the reception, the Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique extended a warm welcome to the Fon while expressing how worried everyone was in his absence. The Governor added that God Almighty did the miracle and he was released sound and safe. He equally said a special thanksgiving mass will be organised in the days ahead to show the world and to reassure the Head of State that the region is bouncing back. He remarked that the release of the Fon is the beginning of something new for the region. The Secretary No 2, HRH Fon Bahmbi III Mathias Njuh, said they were like orphans in his absence and the days of sleepless nights are now gone.
