West Region : Gov't Partners To Assist IDPs

This was disclosed during a concertation meeting in Bafoussam, jointly chaired by the Secretaries General of MINDDEVEL and MINJEC, and attended by donor partners.
Some internally displaced youths from the North West and South West Regions living in the West Region, who are victims of the socio-political crisis in these two regions will in the months ahead benefit from material and financial assistance from the government of Cameroon and some international organisations. This will help these displaced persons to engage in income-generating activities that will better their living standards.
This was disclosed in Bafoussam on May 31, 2023 during a concertation meeting, jointly chaired by the Secretaries General in the Ministries of Decentralization and Local Development (MINDDEVEL) and Youth Affairs and Civic Education(MINJEC), Ebongue Makolle Fred and Benga Robert, respectively, representing their various Ministers.
The Scribe of MINDDEVEL revealed that the project is geared towards sustainable peaceful coexistence between the IDPs and their host communities and the empowerment of these displaced youths through the UN peace building funds(PBF), adding that the sponsorship is the joint efforts of Cameroon Government, UNESCO, IOM, and the four councils.
Among the signatories in the action plan to assist these young IDPs to meet their socio-economic needs and better living standards, at the meeting, was the Director of UNESCO Regional Office for Central Africa, the head of International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the mayors of Babadjou, Bafoussam I, Mbouda and Santchou Councils...
