AFBC Elite Championships : Kick Off This Friday

It will be an exciting weekend for lovers of boxing in Yaounde and elsewhere. The 2023 African Boxing Championship will kick off at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports complex today, July 28, 2023. As at yesterday July 27, close to 30 countries had already arrived in the country ahead of the competition. The last delegation of athletes from Gabon, DR Congo and the Republic of Congo are among the 39 countries that are expected to compete for medals in the competition were expected to arrive in the country later yesterday. Ahead of the competition, the national men and women’s boxing teams are ready and waiting anxiously for the kick off. 
Since July 15, 2023, some 30 boxers have been polishing up their skills at the CEFTA gym in Ekounou, Yaounde inorder to ensure the best performance in the competition. The head coach, Alain Didier Ngatcha said the players have been preparing seriously since May 2023 with external training sessions. Over 60 boxers (men and women) began the training camps.
