China-Cameroon Cooperation : Cameroon Requests Increase In Scholarships

The Chinese Embassy in Cameroon on August 24, 2023 held a ceremony to bid farewell to young Cameroonians who are to study in China.

Some 11 Cameroonians are due to leave for China in the coming days for studies on the scholarship of the Chinese government. To formally bid farewell to them before departure, the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon on Thursday, August 24, 2024 held a ceremony in Yaounde. The event was chaired by Mrs. Chen Yaou, Minister Counsellor in the Chinese Embassy.
Out of the 11 scholarship grantees, three are ladies. Six will study for Bachelor's degrees and three Master's degrees. While another two are for general one-year studies. The young students will read courses such as International Trade and Economics, Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Science and Technology, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, etc.
Since 2006, China has trained more than 3,000 Cameroonian students in China, Minister Chen disclosed. She said 10 years of the Chinese-led Belt and Road Initiative have seen more than 150 countries and 30 international organizations participating, creating over 3,000 cooperation projects, 1,000 billion US dollars in investments, and 420,000 jobs in partner countries.
Mrs. Wanah Litumbe Theresia, the Director of Student Assistance and Welfare in the Ministry of Higher Education, represented the ministry. She was accompanied by Mrs. Balla Solange, the Sub-Director for Student Assistance in the Ministry of Higher Education. “Many young Cameroonians would like to study in China because of its high educational standards.
