South West : Tutors Explore Ways Of Enhancing Digitalization

This was as they met in Buea for their First Secondary Education Sector Conference ahead of 2023/2024 academic year.
Focus at the South West First Secondary Education Sector Conference for the 2023/2024 academic year was on digitalization and classroom practices for the modernization of teaching and learning at the Ministry of Secondary Education. At Bilingual Grammar School Molyko Buea on Thursday August 31, 2023, teachers, principals, inspectors, Divisional Delegates among others stakeholders marked their presence from lay private, mission and state colleges. Presentations hung on strategies of digitalization in secondary schools, digitalizing administrative processes in secondary schools, bilingualism: the bases of our heritage, entrepreneurship in our secondary schools with UNESCO intervention etc.
Dr. Mbua Hannah Etonde, South West Regional Delegate for Secondary Education, said the presentations will be watchdog to guild their administrative and pedagogic activities throughout the school year. That the train of digitalization has taken off and it should not pass anyone by - school administrators, teachers and students. “With digital tools we can encourage our children to come to school even without bags and they will still study,” she said while noting that the education of all children occupies top priority.
The South West Secondary Education boss told the teachers that if they don’t take their job seriously then the entire education foundation will collapse. “It is imperative for us to take digitalization of teaching seriously and make distance education a priority in the teaching and learning process,” she encouraged.
Cornelius Awunjia Asong, Sub Director of Examinations at South West Regional Delegation for Secondary Education, indicated that there were improved results at end of course certificate examinations like DECC, OBC and CGCE. Equally, functional colleges increased to 247 out of 452 existing ones. ...
