Talent Development : New Era Opens

This is thanks to the FIFA Talent Development Scheme that was officially launched and presented during a joint FECAFOOT-FIFA press conference on October 2, 2023 in Yaounde.

At a time when the country is evidently experiencing a decline in output when it comes to football, stakeholders are strategizing on how to reverse this trend in the future by scouting and developing talents from the base. To attain this goal, Cameroon is benefiting from the largesse of the World Football Governing body, FIFA, through its Talent Development Scheme (TDS). The programme was officially launched and presented during a joint Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT)-FIFA press conference on October 2, 2023. It was at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza, Yaounde. 
The President of the Cameron Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o, in his opening remark, said it was A great day for Cameroonian football. The FECAFOOT boss was very optimistic with the fact that this programme is capable of producing a generation of Lions who will be winning from 2027 onwards. He again underlined that the National Technical Directorate, with this programme, has been given the weapons to execute its missions. 
On the sides of Samuel Eto’o during the press conference were three FIFA emissaries; Former Ghanaian international, Anthony Baffoe, FIFA's high performance specialist; the Cameroonian, Etienne Sockeng, regional technical consultant and the Portuguese Jorge Reis, the Talent Coach.
