44th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie : Stakes Of Yaounde Conclave

The Yaounde Conference Centre is host to the 44th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie which begins today November 3, 2023 under the theme, "Good Governance: A Guarantee of Political, Economic and Cultural Stability for Francophone Citizens". It is the first time Cameroon is hosting the historic event which runs till November 5, 2023 and will conclude with a series of recommendations for the wellbeing of citizens of member countries. The Ministerial Conference which is expected to bring together some 400 delegates, is one of the three bodies enshrined in the Francophonie Charter, alongside the Summit and the Permanent Council of La Francophonie.

Deliberations at the annual get-together which Cameroon is hosting for the first time, will centre on various reforms and cooperation mechanisms within the institution that has as purpose to ensure the political continuity of the Summit. Stakeholders of member countries are meeting at a time when some of the States, especially those on the African continent, are grappling with security challenges (terrorism, highway robbery and piracy at sea) and the effects of climate change.

As such, there will be debates on specific topics relating to the participation of La Francophonie in peace keeping operations, maintaining cultural and linguistic diversity. With inclusive development for all the nations being an overall principal objective, aspects of good governance and the apt management of State resources to attain the said goal will be brought to the table.
