Presbyterian Church At 66 : Christians Called To Be Steadfast

Special church service characterised the anniversary celebration at the PCC Bastos in Yaounde on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Sunday November 12, 2023 was an exceptional worship service day at the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, (PCC) Bastos congregation. Christians were celebrating the 66th anniversary of the church in Cameroon, in singing and dancing under the theme: “God will Rejuvenate His Church.” Officiating the service was the Parish Pastor of PCC Bastos and Presbyterial Secretary, East Mungo North Presbytery, Rev Njongai Polycarp Versha.
In his sermon to the congregation, Rev Njongai drew inspiration from the theme of celebration, while reading from the book of Isaiah 40:31. He said over 66 years, the church has experienced God’s mysterious hands leading the Presbyterian church and the lives of Christians. He said the biblical passage focuses on God comforting and inspiring the Jewish exiles under the Babylonian captivity. The Reverend said the same words of hope to the Israelite are coming to the congregation as they celebrate 66th anniversary, to assure them that in Christ all is not lost despite all the problems faced as a church, people, nation and the world. The preacher said happenings around the world are unpredictable and it is fast becoming an arena for the survival of the fittest. According to him, it is within this context that celebrations have been coined around the theme “Rejuvenation.”
Rev. Njongai said it was a day for Christians to seek the face of God for the church, the nation; Cameroon and for the world. He stressed that there is absolute need for restoration, renewal and revival of the church, for this will lead to the rejuvenation of Cameroon and the world in general. He urged faithful Presbyterians to know that difficulties and struggles are the price to pay for the victories of tomorrow.
