Women’s Handball World Cup : Lionesses Round Off First Preparatory Phase

The national women’s national handball team left the country today Monday, November 13, 2023 for France where they will continue with their preparations.

 

The national women’s handball team ended the first phase of preparations ahead of the upcoming 26th IHF Women’s World Cup that will place Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The girls of Coach Bertin Tabeth Njantou played their last friendly match in the country against a selection of male players called ‘La Team’ at the Mfandena Gymnasium on Saturday November 11, 2023.
The match ended 31-27 in favour of the male selection. The encounter was an opportunity to bid farewell to the public. It was equally and chance for the Lionesses to put into practice the skills they had acquired during their training in Yaounde. The Lionesses left the country today Monday, November 13, 2023 for France where they will continue with their preparations.
During their stay in France, the Lionesses will participate in the Tournoi de France Caen 2023 that will take place in new Palais des Sports in Caen, France from November 24 to 26, 2023. Four countries will take part in the competition. They are Cameroon, Senegal, South Korea and France. Cameroon will play against South Korea on November 24, 2023 and the second game against Senegal on November 26, 2023.  
For the Lionesses of Cameroon, the competition will be their last phase of preparations before heading to Helsingborg, Sweden, for the World Cup competition. The coach Tabeth Njantou said he was satisfied with the performance of the players. He said the team is progressing at the different levels.
