North West : GBHS Mbengwi Awaits Projects From Ex-Students

Worth FCF 15 million, the projects intended to facilitate learning will be the indelible marks of the Golden Jubilee year of the school created in 1973.
The ex-students of Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Mbengwi in Momo Division of the North West Region on November 12, 2023 launched the Golden Jubilee year of the institution that will end in June 2024 with the realisation of key projects that will facilitate the learning process in the school.The launching phase of the Golden Jubilee year of GBHS Mbengwi started in the school premises on November 12 and lasted up to November 16, 2023. Major highlights of the occasion included an ecumenical service, sporting and cultural activities and the march past of current and ex-students.
Under the leadership of the General Coordinator of the Golden Jubilee celebration, Ngangjoh Mama Lamya, the ex-students announced ambitious projects that they will finance and that will be handed over to the school authorities by June 2024 when the Golden Jubilee year ends. The ex-students have therefore targeted the digging of a borehole to ensure regular water supply, extension of electricity on both campuses, renovation and construction of toilets. The General Coordinator indicated that some of the projects are already ongoing as the ex-students are sponsoring some 100 underprivileged students to the tune of FCFA 5 million. The general cleaning of the campus is equally in progress using a lawn mower purchased and offered the school by ex-students. The execution of the projects is in collaboration with the Principal Ndang Walters Tafri Mugri.
The school started in the 1973/1974 school year as Government Secondary School Mbengwi, transformed to Government High School Mbengwi in 1978 and finally transformed to Government Bilingual High School Mbengwi in 1995.
