Senator Anja Simon : Senate Pays Deserving Homage

Senate Vice President, Tabetando presided at the tribute-paying event on December 5, 2023 which held at the House Chambers.
Parliamentary honours have been paid to late Senator Anja Simon who died on November 7, 2023 in Turkey. The homage-paying ceremony took place on December 5, 2023 at the Senate House Chambers and was chaired by Senate Vice President, Tabetando, representative of the Senate President, Marcel Niat Njifenji. A brief church service was organised in his honour and led by the Parish Pastor of the Presbyterian Church Bastos, Rev. Njongai Polycarp, where the departed legislator was a member of the Christian Men Fellowship. Drawing his meditation from John 9:30, the man of God dwelt his sermon on "when the game is over, we shall all return home." As such, he called on everyone to make an effort to keep things right with the creator.
While extending the condolences of the House to the family, the Senate Vice President said the deceased legislator was one of the pioneer figures of the law-making institution, having been appointed by the President of the Republic as one of the Senators of the South West, and was on his third mandate when the cold hands of death snatched him. The Senate Vice President said the deceased who was a member of the Constitutional Law Committee and Secretary of the Committee on Production and Trade, through general debates and other deliberations, was very much engaged in the fight against terrorism, promotion of bilingualism and accelerating the decentralisation process.
