Elite One : Colombe, Canon Share

Colombe of Dja and Lobo and Canon Sportif of Yaounde separated on a 0-0 draw yesterday December 6, 2023 during a day 10 match that took place at the Omnisports Annex 1 Stadium in Yaounde. The match marked the first day of play in the second phase of the MTN Elite One championship after the two-week break. Thousands of supporters from the Centre and South regions thronged the stadium to cheer the teams. It was a thrilling encounter that kept fans excited and encouraging the players.
The match began as planned with both sides determined to grab the three points of the day. Canon of Yaounde began the game well and had good control of the game. But they lost most of their scoring chances. Colombe also put up a strong fight but they equally lost their opportunities. At half time, the score line was 0-0. On resumption, Canon continued with their onslaught creating panic for their opponents from the South Region but they faced a lot of resistance. Colombe on their part fought hard with a strong defence wall warding off any attempts by Canon. Canon put much pressure up front and had several chances but most of their shots were off target. A glaring opportunity came for Canon at the 70th minute but it was squandered. Colombe of Dja and Lobo made several attempts at goal but they were lost. Replacements by coaches did not help much. The stalemate continued and no side was able to break the deadlock. All efforts by both teams to score were futile. At stoppage time, the scoreboard read 0-0.
