North West Councils : Treasurers Armed To Offer Quality Services

The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) trained them in a one-day workshop in Bamenda on December 6, 2023.
Treasurers of the 34 municipal Councils, Bamenda City Council and the Regional Assembly in the North West Region are henceforth expected to offer quality services that meet an acceptable standard to users of their respective Councils services and the entire beneficiary local populations. After training mayors and councils Secretaries General on better ways of rendering quality services, the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region on December 6, 2023 trained the Municipal and Regional Assembly treasurers on their respective roles in offering services that meet acceptable ethical standards all intended to accelerate local development.
The treasurers were empowered to shun unethical conduct and violators in regional, city and council services and provided with knowledge to help them enforce ethical standards to improve the quality of services offered to users and the community at large. They were also better enlightened on how to assist mayors, guide them and comply with legal text governing council functioning, to ensure the effective management of Councils.
Talking to the Municipal and Regional Assembly treasurers, the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region Tamfu Simon Fai said the PIC was created by Law No. 2019/024 of 24 December 2019 within the context of the Special Status for the North West and South West Regions as a new State institution born out of a Constitutional provision.
