National Extracurricular Sports Games : First Edition Ongoing

About 2,000 youths from the ten regions of the country are taking part in competition that kicked off in Yaounde on Sunday December 17, 2023.
The first edition of the National Extracurricular Sports Games (JENASESCO) is ongoing in Yaounde under the theme; “Development of sports clusters: challenges and opportunities for the empowerment of youth”. Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC), the competition brings together about 2,000 youths from the 10 regions of the country. The youths are competing in several disciplines notably athletics, basketball, volleyball, handball, para sports, judo and wrestling among others.
At the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium yesterday December 18, 2023, which is one of the sites chosen for the games, athletics was the only sports discipline on programme. The athletes competed in the 100m and 400m men and women. The head of the athletics workshop, Annie Sandrine Bissai said athletics will continue today December 19 with the 4x100m relay, shot put and Paralympics. The different delegations are working hard in order to bag home as many medals as possible.
