South West : BUNEC Employs Ways To Boost Civil Status Registration

This was as it evaluated its activities throughout the region for the year 2023.
South West Regional platform for civil status actors has resolved to continue massive sensitization of the population on the importance of obtaining civil status document which are birth, death and marriage certificates. Training sessions too will be organised for stakeholders and religious authorities were encouraged to request for birth certificates of children before administering baptism. Declaration of birth and deaths within deadlines were stressed so as to be captured in all health facilities. In the case of the absent of birth certificates, children are to be registered in schools with birth declarations. The actors which include Reach Out Cameroon, LUKMEF, UNICEF, South West Regional Delegations for Basic and Social Affairs among others chatted the way forward in Buea on December 21, 2023. It was chaired by Mbembe Mbong Vanessa, Chief of Division for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs at the South West Governor’s Office who sat in for Bernard Okalia Bilai, South West Governor.
