Killing Of Martinez Zogo : Abomination!

The death of the radio animator has been condemned widely even as justice is still being sought.
Since January 17, 2023, current events in the country have been marked by the gruesome killing of the radio animator Salomon Mbani Zogo, better known as Martinez Zogo. Martinez Zogo, who directed the privately-owned Radio Amplitude FM, was the host of “Embouteillage”, a programme on public issues. He is reported to have been kidnapped on 17 January, four days before his body was found on Sunday January 22. The lifeless body of Martinez Zogo was found on an empty plot of land in Ebogo 3, a neighbourhood in the outskirt of the city of Yaounde. Public opinion had discovered that the animator had been subjected to cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment. He had been completely mutilated by his torturers. The population and the media, in particular, remain in shock. Martinez Zogo’s remains is still lying in a mortuary in Yaounde as investigations on his murder are still ongoing at the Military Court in the capital city.
The 51-year-old on his programme regularly tackled cases of corruption and alleged embezzlement, not hesitating to question important personalities by name. Martinez Zogo’s death provoked worldwide condemnation on the violation of freedom of speech in the country.
